Blend Gallery will be hosting New Sculpture by Brad Reagan during the month of October. The artist will be available on the opening night of the First Saturday Art Crawl. He will follow up the exhibition with a talk on October 27, at 1 P.M. to 2 P.M.
Using familiar industrial materials such as wire and foam, Brad creates work that reference natural, fleshy forms contrasted with more geometric elements using plastic and matt board. In his artist statement, Brad says, “Though I have always enjoyed representation, I feel a strong conviction to challenge our familiarity with the world we live in. I love the art object. My goal is to make art objects that begin to arrive somewhere outside our expectations, somewhere spiritual. Rarely, in our society, do we encounter such objects. We need objects that sparkle with wonder and familiarity, which can move us in new directions of understanding.” Brad lives and teaches foundation courses in Art at Austin Peay state University in Clarksville, TN.
